2019 Tour | I Waited Patiently

I waited patiently for the Lord;
And he inclined unto me,
And heard my cry.
He brought me up also out of an horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my goings.
And he hath put a new song in my mouth,
Even praise unto our God:
Many shall see it, and fear,
And shall trust in the Lord.

– Psalm 40:1-3

This Psalm of David is not only the theme song of our group, but it is a song that speaks of man’s depravity and his immeasurable need of God. These verses are a beautiful reminder of God working in our brokenness and weakness. Every time I sing this song I am reminded of the verses in 1 Corinthians 2 when Paul states, “And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” Both Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians and David’s words in Psalm 40 are a reminder to me to allow God’s power to be known in my weakness so that He will be feared and His name honored and glorified.
