The last travel day of the tour was a long one! We left Seymour, Missouri around 9:00 a.m. and headed northeast. The rolling Ozark hills gave way to familiar sights of Interstate 44, and we stopped for lunch before we got to St. Louis, hoping to still find some restaurants with dine-in options. We had limited success, but no one went hungry. Sounds of rook games, babies, and meaningful conversations filled the bus.
We arrived at the First Christian Church of Arcola, Illinois, late in the afternoon and figured out the logistics of the chapel space. Then we walked down the cobblestone street to Broomtown Café, where we enjoyed a delicious supper served by Dan and Audrey Krieder.
After our concert, we headed back to Broomtown Café for ice cream and coffee before boarding the bus for the last few hours to home. The lateness of the hour did not slow the chatter, games, and laughter, and the miles passed quickly. We arrived safely at Truth and Grace around 12:45 a.m.
Fun fact: We traveled a total of 2,054 miles through 5 states on tour.
