2019 Tour | Alto Spotlight

Welcome to the alto spotlight! We have four talented altos this tour and here is a snapshot into their tour.

What interested you in joining Tehillah ensemble?
Beth: Well, the opportunity arose, and I have had a desire to sing with an ensemble, and I knew it would be stretching in ways I haven’t been musically stretched before.
Jess: I loved the beautiful sound they made, and the focus of the group; not about singing or perfecting ourselves, but giving praise to God.

What keeps your interest in singing choral music?
Tasha: I love the challenge and beauty of it.
Ruth: The people I get to do it with. Choral means it can’t be done alone. There are friendships that are formed that I wouldn’t have had otherwise and that is my favorite part.

What is your favorite song this tour?
Ruth: Musically, “All Praise to Thee.” But the song that speaks to me the most is “In Deepest Night.”
Beth: The hope, peace and comfort in the promises of “You are Mine” make it a really special song for me.
Tasha: I don’t know if I have a favorite song, but I really love “All Praise to Thee.” Not only does it sound beautiful, but I love the reminder of what God has done for us followed by the chorus of grateful praise for his love, mercy, and grace toward us.
Jess: I think its probably “I’ll Fly Away.”

What do you love most about being an alto?
Tasha: I love being an alto because God created me an Alto (insert cheesy smile).
Beth: I love the rich harmonies in alto.

What words of wisdom do you have for us?
Ruth: Take advantage of the opportunities you have, but never take them for granted, because they are a gift.
Jess: Brush your teeth.

What is your favorite choir?
Ruth: *Sighs* Such a hard question. Probably St. Olaf.
Beth: Voces8 Ensemble or Concordia University Choir.
