Tuesday morning had a very nice beginning with a homemade iced latte from my kind host. As the ensemble members trickled back to the bus, Tasha, Mariah, and I took toddlers on little jaunts about the parking lot in the warm sunshine.
After our long travel day on Monday, we were all pleased to have only four and a half hours to traverse to Harrisonburg, VA. With available free time, we stopped for an hour at Gettysburg National Military Park. Various members of the group took walks, viewed war memorials, or played spike ball. Shortly after that, we made a lunch stop in Chambersburg, PA, where some nearby relatives came to meet up with the ensemble.
Speaking for myself, one enjoyable facet of Tehillah is that we have a diverse group of grandparents, parents, spouses, single people, children, and babies that it becomes a semi-family-like entourage.
Bus life often includes much conversation, card games, singing, napping, coffee, and more: today being no exception. We are often regaled by stories from Dave, factual nerdy anecdotes from Corey, and charming conversations with the three-year-olds.
Near four in the afternoon, we arrived at Mt. Tabour United Methodist Church for our concert hosted by Redeemer Christian Fellowship. Having a comfortable schedule today, Dan led us through warm-up time and a vocal exploration of the venue–a steepled building with stained glass windows and plush red pews. The ensemble appreciated the acoustics that enabled us to better hear each other as we sang in front of a crowd that packed out the sanctuary.
Post concert and much animated visiting, we all enjoyed wonderful hospitality in the Shenandoah valley, with Ruth happy to spend the night in her own home!
Join us tomorrow as we head for Holmes County, Ohio.
