Wednesday morning began with a call time of 8:30 am. Ensemble members arrived with excited anticipation of our upcoming two day excursion into Canada.
The bus departed at 8:45 am, and by 8:47 am Jamee chose violence in the form of drawing caricatures of fellow ensemble members. (Please see attached photo to see if you recognize anyone. 😁)
9:45 am rolled around, Jamee put down her pen of destruction, and Jonny led us in morning devotions. While speaking and struggling to keep the microphone button pressed down, he came to a self-proclaimed realization: “Wow, I must be weak.” We all laughed, allowing the laughter to speak for itself.
11:00 am brought the daily passing of the gummy vitamin C. Some folks question whether the sheer amount of sugar in said vitamin C cancels out any supposed health benefits, but we eat them nonetheless.
At 11:45 am, we all successfully made it through the Canadian border crossing. We reembarked the bus for a short drive to Niagara Falls.
12:18 pm brought about yet another mass exodus from the bus, this time at the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. We Americans begrudgingly admit that the Canadian side really is more beautiful. Some ensemble members set off to find poutine and beaver tails for a proper Canadian food experience.
We all met back on the bus at 1:40 pm to resume our travels to Faith Mennonite Church in Wellesley, ON. Some ensemble members played games, some napped, and Jess taught Corey how to embroider.
At 3:52 pm, Eric informed us we were 5 minutes from our destination and asked ensemble members to be on the stage for practice by 4:15 pm. We soon arrived at the church; the stage was cleared, the PR table was set up, changing rooms were found, and rehearsal only started 2 minutes late… potentially a record in promptness.
5:30 pm meant supper time had finally arrived. Church members served us a delightful supper of haystacks, fresh fruit, rice crispy treats, and s’mores bars.
Our fourth program started at 7:00 pm. The pews were filled with smiling fellow believers. We thank God for yet another evening of worship and praise to our God.
