And just like that, we are back. It’s rehearsal weekend, and there are things to do. We’re together in Elnora. We have music, we have tea, and we have pretzels and dip. We are practicing. And all these things seem necessary.
Day one of rehearsal was a solid day of music making. The ensemble members showed up and sang until weariness settled in. Our fine Artistic Director guided us in both singing and interpreting the various pieces of our rep. In one particular song, he instructed us that we MUST continue, “even if the altos don’t come in and the men moo!” (We are unavailable for comment at this time.)
An early dismissal found us swinging by Dan’s for a house tour (of the in-progress build) en route to Juanita’s. This woman is a very kind soul who did a fabulous job of fueling our endeavors. She served a delicious meal that started with coffee and ended with fried ice cream. It was that good. While at Juanita’s, we learned that it requires more concentration to move one’s scalp than to move one’s ears. We observed Dave’s epic impersonation of a deep-sea creature, and pondered why a non-coffee person would work in a coffee-centered industry. Some of these things are more concerning than others.
I’ve heard that the bus has been rearranged and cleaned for our upcoming departure. I wouldn’t know, but I have confidence that at least the bus is ready to go. It’s been a good day and a good start to the week that lies ahead. Come along for the ride—we are excited to see you!
