Waking up in the state of Iowa on Tuesday morning, we had an early start. We met at Fairview Mennonite Church (where we had sung the previous night) at 7:45 in the morning. With a long drive to Hutchinson, Kansas, ahead of us, we groggily got into the bus with coffee in hand.

We began the drive with Aaron giving a devotional on dealing with loss and how we find hope through Jesus Christ, even in the midst of pain and suffering. For lunch, we stopped at the Toot Toot Family Restaurant in Missouri, where some people ate burgers that they couldn’t fit in their mouths (a quite remarkable feat, seeing as these people can produce so much noise).

We then got into the bus and finished the drive to Hutch. Chess, Spot-It, and Qwixx were favorites during the bus time. Once we arrived at Hutch, we were greeted by a scrumptious supper of haystacks, provided by people from Word of Life Mennonite Church. After supper, we went to Hans and Beth Mast’s house for affogatos, which were amazing! A new song was practiced there (in preparation for our workshop tomorrow), and many barber shop tags were sung, some nice and some not. We then headed off to our hosts’ houses to rest for another coming day!
