Tour 2025 | Day 9

Yawn! Saturday morning arrived plenty early. Restoring the bus back to human use until Very Late the night before made for some groggy ensemble members as we gathered for Recording Day. We have been blessed over the past several years by First Baptist Church as a recording venue, and Kendrick Layman (a former Tehillah member) once again served as recording engineer.

Listening to takes

While recording reaches our largest audience, it is challenging to remember this as we sing in an empty sanctuary. Our morning devotions directed our attention to Proverbs 16:1-3 and prayer, a welcome remembrance of our need for the Lord to establish our work.

No recording day would be complete without some competition from local lawnmowers, traffic, and myriad other noises lurking in the background. Morning came and went as we labored through tuning issues and collected takes of two songs. Out of seven total, progress was slow.

Hans (Beth’s husband) provided us with lunch, and after the traditional coffee run to Rejavanated downtown, we had a lot of work left for the afternoon. Thankfully, we were able to accelerate our progress and wrapped up at around 5:30 PM. A rousing cobbled-together rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus rang through the church as we cleaned up to leave.

Juanita Schrock prepared supper at her house back in Elnora, and we spent the evening enjoying one another’s company, somehow possible even after spending a week packed in the bus!
